In order to be able to work on board Danish ships, including fishing vessels, you must regularly be subject to a medical examination and be found fit for ship service at this examination. The clinic is authorized by the Danish Maritime Authority to perform this examination. In total we have experience from more than 2000 examinations.
UK Medical Examination / Norwegian Medical Certificate
The OGUK medical or Norwegian Medical Certificate is required by some employers or companies before personnel can be deployed to offshore workplaces around the world.
The OGUK medical and Norwegian Medical Certificate must be undertaken by approved doctors who have a special authorization.
An offshore medical includes:
- Detailed Medical History
- Physical Examination – including doctors review and measurements of such things as height, weight, vision, urine
- Audiometry (hearing test)
- Lung function screening (Norway)
You are required to show photographic ID.
Upon completion of your examination, you will be provided with an Offshore Medical Certificate vid for 2 years. Some persons may be given certificates of shorter duration if they have medical problems that need earlier review.
Hardanger agreement: Mutual recognition of Oil & Gas UK, Norsk olje & gass and Nederlandse Olie en Gas Exploratie en Productie Associate approved medicals: Norwegian (and NOGEPA) medical certificates are good for offshore work and travel on the UK Continental shelf. If undertaking the Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) training as part of BOSIET, you will need to undertake a Fitness To Train assessment. This is to identify those with respiratory problems, cardiac or Ear Nose and Throat ENT conditions that may contraindicate in-water training. Absolute contraindications to EBS training are for those with the following conditions: – Spontaneous Pneumothorax – Cystic Fibrosis Patients with Asthma and COPD will need to undergo Spirometry and pass a minimum standard Referral for a hospital specialist opinion may be required for the following individuals: – Asthma and COPD patients who fail the minimum standard of spirometry – Any other lung or heart conditions that affects the ability to exercise – ENT conditions where they have been advised to avoid immersion / diving.
The clinic issues OGUK Medical Fitness Certificate or G41 (German statutory requirement for persons working at height) to Work in the offshore windsector. A satisfactory medical certificate is valid for two years and combines the following tests as part of our examination process. Completion of Patient Questionnaire Consultation with a doctor Urinalysis – routine urine test with immediate result BMI – measurement of height, weight and calculation of Body Mass Index Visual acuity (near and distance) and visual fields test Pulse and Blood Pressure Measurement Lung Function Test (spirometry) Audiogram (hearing test) Chester Step Test
A satisfactory medical certificate is valid for two years and combines the following tests as part of our examination process.
- Medical history
- Consultation with a doctor
- BMI – measurement of height, weight and calculation of Body Mass Index
- Visual acuity (near and distance) and visual fields test
- Pulse and Blood Pressure Measurement
- Lungefunktion / Spirometri
- Audiogram (hearing test)
- Chester Step Test
The Chester Step Test is a sub maximal test which requires you to step onto, and off a 15-30 cm standard gym bench, at a rate set by a metronome disc, sufficient to elicit a heart rate of around 80% max heart rate at a moderate level of exertion. It is a multi-staged test so every 2 minutes there is an increase in the rate of the step.
